Built for Battle, trusted by Generations. Marathon has been crafting timepieces for Allied Forces since 1941. And four generations later, they're still providing 'Milspec' durability with Swiss precision to create watches that perform when it counts. These aren't your average timepieces.
Since 1941, Marathon has been manufacturing timing instruments for the Allied Forces, establishing a legacy rooted in military precision and reliability. The company that was to become Marathon Watch was founded in 1904 as Weinsturm Watch, later to be named Wein Brothers. In 1939 Morris Wein founded Marathon Watch in Montreal, and they are the only current active military watch contractor to the US Government.
Designed in Canada, handcrafted in La Chaux-de Fonds, and worn around the world, Marathon watches combine Swiss manufacturing precision with Canadian design philosophy. In the early 1990s, production moved to the company's dedicated facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds, one of the historical hubs of Swiss watchmaking, where all Marathon watches are still made today.
Marathon Search and Rescue (SAR) watches are developed to Canadian Government requirements for use in professional SAR operations. First introduced in the early 1990s, the SAR Series continues to be an essential kit element for elite members of both the Canadian and U.S. military forces.

Marathon General Purpose (GP) watches harken back to the original field watches developed by Marathon and issued to Allied forces in 1941. Built to U.S Military Standard MIL-PRF-46374 G with direct lineage to the legendary GG-W-113 Spec of the 1960s.

General Purpose Features:
The General Purpose Quartz uses self contained Tritium gas tubes to ensure constant visibility in low light situations, a gas tube is placed on each hour marker and hand. Tritium tubes are self illuminating gas tubes which contain an isotope of hydrogen, meaning they will not dull down in brightness like normal photoluminescent paint which requires an external light source to create a glow.
Tritium Advantages:
For entry-level models, Marathon offers a photo-luminescent lume Marathon has developed called MaraGlo. Once charged with an external light source, Marathon claims that this new chemical will glow solidly for 8 hours, providing an affordable alternative to tritium.
