RETURN OF THE WING LOGO
415 ES
The new 415 ES combines the timeless design of the original with modern materials and technologies, remaining true to the brand’s rich history while meeting the demands of today. A classic that continues its history in the present. The 415 ES was first presented in the mid-1960s and was available in various versions. Around 60 years ago, Hanhart introduced two special features for the first time in its history: a chronograph with a bidirectional rotating bezel with 60-minute graduations and the striking, sporty wing logo, which modernized the company’s external image.
REVIVAL OF A VINTAGE CHRONOGRAPH
THE HISTORIC 415 ES
Throughout history, there have been numerous different designs of the 415 ES. Some models, which can also be found in historical catalogs, were implemented with Dauphine hands. Other developments featured straight hands similar to those of the iconic 417 ES. Dials were available in light and dark versions. However, one very special design captivated the Hanhart development team and was revived in line with modern manufacturing standards and using state-of-the-art materials: the 415 ES with straight hands, tachymeter scale and red hundred scale. The historical model on which the new edition of the 415 ES was based is shown on the left, and an excerpt from the 1965 catalog beneath the picture contains further details about the watch. The “ES“ (in German “Edelstahl“) in the name stands for stainless steel, from which the case of the watch is made.
EYE-CATCHER FROM THE PAST
TACHYMETER & HUNDREDTH SCALE
The new 415 ES has a black dial with totalizers at 3 and 9 o’clock. The tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial helps to measure speeds over a set distance. There is also a red hundredths scale on the dial. To facilitate the management and calculation of working and production times, time is often measured in industrial minutes. In this system, the duration of a period of time is indicated in the decimal system. One minute is thus divided into 100 units. This function is particularly important in industrial and technical applications.
COMEBACK AFTER 40 YEARS
THE HANHART WING LOGO
The dial of the 415 ES bears the historic “wing logo“, a symbol that Hanhart used as its official logo from the 1960s onwards to rejuvenate and modernize its external image. This is the first time in over 40 years that this particular logo has been used on a Hanhart wristwatch.
BRIDGE BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT
MODERN VINTAGE CHARM
In today’s new edition, Hanhart has revived the model in a historically correct size of 39 mm diameter while retaining the charm of the original watch from the 1960s. The aim of the new edition was not to create an exact copy of the old watch, but to retain the classic design and equip it with modern materials and a new movement to give the watch state-of-the-art technology. The 415 ES thus represents a bridge between past and present, with which Hanhart once again demonstrates its innovative strength.
