140 YEARS OF HANHART: FLYBACK COLUMN-WHEEL CHRONOGRAPH

417 ES 1954 Flyback Reverse Panda 39
140 years ago, Johann A. Hanhart laid the foundations for the Hanhart brand. First as a watch store and soon as a manufacturer of precise timepieces with a stop function. To celebrate this anniversary, we are presenting our new 417 ES Flyback. The watch is available in two case sizes and two dial variants, with each version equipped with our flyback caliber including column wheel and manual winding.

39 MM

THE PERFECT SIZE?
When we relaunched the legendary 417 ES in a 42 mm stainless steel case two years ago, a success story began for Hanhart. Just this year, we launched an additional variant, the 417 ES 1954, which has the same size as the historical design model from our museum thanks to its 39 mm case. Now we are celebrating 140 years of Hanhart by launching four versions of the new 417 ES Flyback.

STRONG CONTRAST

REVERSE PANDA
In addition to the technical advancement, the models of our new 417 ES Flyback also stand out visually from the previously launched variants. The watch is available with both a white and black panda dial and a black and white reverse panda dial in every case size. Both versions ensure strong contrasts and perfect readability on the wrist, even in poor lighting conditions, thanks to Super-LumiNova C3 luminous material. In this Reverse Panda version, the two small sub-dials are also coated with Super-LumiNova C3.

NEW OLD FUNCTION

FLYBACK RETURNS
In keeping with our long tradition of producing chronographs, we are bringing the flyback function back to our most popular collection. The historic 417 ES, which was originally designed for pilots of the German Air Force, was already equipped with a tempo setting – as the flyback function is also known. The mechanism allows a new time interval to be measured immediately by pressing the reset button. The new, first-class AMT5100 M caliber comes from Sellita’s “Manufacture AMT“ department. It controls the chronograph via a column wheel and has a power reserve of at least 58 hours when fully wound. The AMT 5100 M caliber is traditionally wound by hand and beats at a frequency of 4 hertz. It is robust, reliable and a delight for every chronograph fan.

DARKNESS? NO PROBLEM

SUPER LUMINOVA®
The hands, numerals and totalizers of the Hanhart 417 ES 1954 Flyback Reverse Panda 39 are coated with Super-LumiNova® C3 GL to ensure optimum readability by day and night.
140 YEARS OF HANHART
The new Hanhart 417 ES 1954 Flyback Reverse Panda 39 is being released to mark Hanhart’s 140th anniversary and is a tribute to our history in the production of precise chronographs.

THE ICON FROM THE PAST

THE LEGENDARY 417
Robustness, reliability and readability. Based on these three criteria, Hanhart builds the 417 as the first pilot’s chronograph for the newly founded German armed forces. Hanhart supplied the German armed forces with the timepiece for almost ten years, until the brand concentrated on building hand stopwatches from 1963. The few surviving examples of the historic 417 have since become coveted vintage chronographs for collectors.

SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE

ANTIMAGNETIC CASING BASE
The deliberately simple screw-down case back is adorned with the historic Hanhart logo and the consecutive serial number engraved on the side. In order not to make this flyback chronograph any higher, we have integrated the anti-magnetic capability into the stainless steel case back.

QUALITY LEATHER

COMFORTABLE TO WEAR
On the wrist, a black calfskin strap with a waistband-style carpet pad ensures a high level of comfort from day one. The Alcantara lining also promises a particularly pleasant feel against the skin. A stainless steel pin buckle with the historic Hanhart logo provides a secure hold.

ADDITIONAL SECURITY FOR YOUR MOVEMENT

THE HANHART IMPACT PROTECTION
The Hanhart shock protection was developed to withstand even the most extreme conditions.
It offers additional protection against shocks alongside the usual factory-fitted protection mechanisms.
